Emotions, what's up with those?

Talk by David MacIver (He/Him)

Friday from 5:30 PM - 6:00 PM in Stage A

About four years ago I realised I was miserable and that I should probably do something about that, so I did what any self-respecting nerd would do and read a tonne of books to figure out how emotions worked (I did also go to therapy, but the books were more useful). I wish I could say that life is now sunshine and rainbows but, well, there's a war and a pandemic on, and also I turned out to have a tonne of problems that I haven't yet been able to perfectly fix. But I'm a lot better than I was, and I've learned a lot along the way, and I'm continuing my upwards trajectory, and I'd like to help you do the same. I'm going to tell you some of those things I've learned. It will be a mix of theory (what even are emotions?) and practical advice for understanding and engaging with them better, sprinkled with a slightly eclectic collection of book recommendations for learning more about this.
