What is a Repair Café and why should you take part in one? Fighting against the throwaway society, Repair Cafes bring together local people with broken or worn items and volunteer fixers with the skills to repair them. We fix things like clothes, furniture, appliances, electronics and toys. If you’re a maker at EMF then your skills with a soldering iron could be valuable - or so you’d think. But you’ll find that it’s much more about how to take things apart (and put them back together again), finding what’s broken, and just having a nice chat with someone while you do it. Our café has been going for 3 years. We’ve repaired hundreds of items, saved tonnes of waste from landfill and donated thousands of pounds to local charities.
