Furoshiki - The art of fabric wrapping
Workshop by Denise (Duck) Marshall (they/them) 🎟
Saturday from 5:30 PM - 6:00 PM in Workshop 1 (NottingHack)
Japanese furoshiki is the artform that allows you to use a single square of fabric to wrap almost anything -- you can bundle your swim kit to carry it to the pool to or wrap up awkward-shaped gifts to give to your gran. This skill will let you, in a pinch, easily carry a watermelon home using your scarf as a bag! This style of wrapping is becoming more popular as an eco-friendly alternative to wrapping paper -- and the cloth becomes part of the gift! Furoshiki is to fabric what origami is to paper. This workshop will require some dexterity and patience - if you have less dexterity then you will require more patience but we'll get there together! Open to younger ages, but recommended 12+ to get the most out of the workshop. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult, and both must have a ticket for this workshop.
Attending this workshop will cost | £15 (includes a furoshiki cloth to take home) |
Suitable age range | 12+ |
Attendees should bring | Bring a variety of items you'd carry on the regular, such as laptop, water bottle, books, mobile phone and keys, etc. You will practice wrapping using these items. |
