Furoshiki - The art of fabric wrapping
A workshop from EMF 2024 by Denise (Duck) Marshall
On Saturday June 1, 2024 at – in Workshop 1 (NottingHack)
Japanese furoshiki is the artform that allows you to use a single square of fabric to wrap almost anything -- you can bundle your swim kit to carry it to the pool to or wrap up awkward-shaped gifts to give to your gran. This skill will let you, in a pinch, easily carry a watermelon home using your scarf as a bag!
This style of wrapping is becoming more popular as an eco-friendly alternative to wrapping paper -- and the cloth becomes part of the gift!
Furoshiki is to fabric what origami is to paper. This workshop will require some dexterity and patience - if you have less dexterity then you will require more patience but we'll get there together!
Open to younger ages, but recommended 12+ to get the most out of the workshop. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult, and both must have a ticket for this workshop.
