Get ready to unleash your creativity and delve into the ancient craft of knot-tying. Keep your hands and mind occupied while practising basic macrame knots, and put your newfound knowledge to the test by crafting your very own masterpiece to take home!
The history of knot-tying traces back to ancient times, with intricate knotting techniques spreading from the Middle East to Spain, Italy, and France. Sailors, especially, embraced macramé for practical purposes during their lengthy sea journeys. The Victorian era witnessed a revival of interest in England, and throughout the 20th century, macramé maintained its popularity with artists and crafters exploring innovative designs and materials. Nowadays the craft has evolved beyond its traditional forms and utilitarian purposes, with contemporary artists pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved with knotting techniques.
