Oscilloscope Analogue Clock
An Analogue CRT Oscilloscope showing a working Analogue Clock. The clock face is drawn on the screen as a vector graphic image with the Oscilloscope set to X-Y mode.
The clock image is generated by a small microcontroller and Digital to Analogue converter. The clock time is set accurately by GPS. The Oscilloscope 'spot' or 'pen' is never turned off. The spot is moved slowly across the screen to draw bright lines and very quickly for hidden lines. Some early arcade video games (Asteroids, Starwars etc) used similar technology instead of more common raster-scan technology.
A modern digital sampling Oscilloscope will usually generate a very poor quality image. Search online for "ScopeClock" or "O'Clock" for further information about this type of analogue clock.
