Randomatones
Randomatones are ambient music creation devices that use custom-built software sound generators fashioned in the style of early-era analogue synths. Simple waveforms are manipulated with random parameters so that no two generated sounds are alike. The sounds are played at random intervals, and rise and fall in volume gradually, creating a continuous slow-moving ethereal musical piece. Unenclosed cone speakers and cheap horns transform the pure synth tones into disembodied, unearthly music. Randomatone devices rotate, producing a doppler effect that brings the audio to life even in an outside space with no natural acoustic. The devices come in various forms, either free-standing weatherproof ones for positioning outside somewhere, or floating versions for the lake. They are always brightly lit in primary colours.
