I Am You
I Am You is a full frontal assault on the persistent illusion of separation between people in this world. It places participants either side of a two-way mirror, each with a strobe controlled by neuron simulations - which flicker the participants reflections into each other
The mirror frame is a giant theremin (capacitative sensing), allowing participants to modulate the intensity of the merging of their reflections by coming closer to the mirror
The neuron (brain) simulations controlling the strobe lights also generate music (played through a small PA) and control an animatronic posse of raccoons playing percussion
I would love to show this art work at EMF, happy to modify/add/collaborate to improve how it could work :)
It's set inside an Octagon Blackout tent, so strobe lights can be contained and warning signs shown. Let me know if there's anything else it would be useful to send!
