World’o’SeaBass

Inspiration: Inspired by the wonderful World’o’Techno.

Overview

This installation features a grey shipping box housing an underwater robot aiming to produce real-time generative underwater music.

Mechanics & Interaction

• The robot creates audio using its internal actuators and excitation speakers.
• External hearing horns allow visitors to listen
• The original design featured an interactive call-and-response mode using microphones and transducers to use surrounding sounds as input.

Current Iteration

This project is an active work in progress. Due to technical damage to the audio board and microphones during development, the installation currently operates in a subdued state. Instead of its intended high-volume interactivity, it quietly cycles through pre-generated tunes produced entirely by its internal actuators.

Our persistence of vision swords, bubble codpieces and Bob (the alien) worked well though! Me and Pip hope you enjoyed them!
