Hacky Racers

Hacky Racers is a DIY electric racing series founded in 2017 and aims to get as many folk as possible in to our particular brand of eccentricity. The basic rules are that you have a £500 budget, maximum 48V nominal battery, and a small footprint to build something as small, fast, and most importantly, daft as possible. A theme is mandatory and for EMF 2026 you'll get bonus moxie points for bringing something space themed!

We aim to have five minute races every hour throughout EMF and a few parades around site too, we're always looking for more people to get involved on the racing and marshalling side of things so please get in touch with us before the event if you've any questions.

The best way to get in touch is via our Facebook group, but we also have a contact form on our website if you want to avoid anything meta. If you are planning on racing and haven't been to an event before it's very important you get in touch to discuss your design before hand. Though Hacky by name and nature we are officially recognised by Motorsports UK and do have some restrictions for safety and paperwork reasons we can't avoid. To avoid disappointment at the event, talk to use sooner rather than later please.
