Propose a family workshop

As well as our sponsored crèche, the EMF team also organise a range of workshops for families in a separate workshop tent.

We are looking for activities that will appeal to our younger audience and encourage them to play, experiment and create.

This should be run in a drop-in fashion (i.e. assume that people may join at any time).

In the past, workshops have included programming Lego robots, making UV torches, bridge building competitions, pom pom making, storytelling, and geocaching.

We’d also love to hear from you if you have an idea for an installation that would be suitable for our younger attendees - giant DIY marble runs, interactive inflatable tentacles, giant colouring books, anything goes! If you have an idea for an installation please email family@emfcamp.org.

Practical considerations

  • All children will be accompanied by an adult during workshops.
  • The tent can hold a maximum of 30 people per workshop, including accompanying adults.
  • The family workshop should be run in a drop-in fashion (don't expect people to join at the start or stay until the end).
  • Family workshops are generally one to two hours long, but can vary.
  • Attendance is operated on a first-come-first-served basis.
  • The tent comes equipped with tables, chairs, screen, and PA system.
  • The Family Team are available to provide advice & assistance both before the festival and at any time during the event.

About your family workshop

The title and description of your family workshop will be made public. You'll be able to tweak these later, but please provide as much detail as you can now, so we can review your submission.

The tent will have a projector and sound system. Please let us know if you need any other equipment you will not be able to easily bring yourself, such as soldering irons.

If accepted, how much notice do you need? We'll try and give you as much time as we can.

Attendees

Our workshop tents will be set up with chairs and tables for 30 people per session. If you would like to run your workshop more than once, or if volunteers would help you increase capacity, please say so.

Please ensure you will have enough kits or equipment to go round.

If this is only a small amount, we may be able to cover it.

All under-16s attending workshops at EMF must be accompanied by an adult.

We're happy to advise on submissions before they are reviewed. We don't consider lack of experience a problem and we welcome those who haven't given a workshop before.
Funding

We have some budget to subsidise travel within the UK for those who could not otherwise afford it. We also have some funds available for up-front costs for workshops, for example, to build kits for attendees.
